Male Fertility Drug Available

from:

There have been numerous studies to help female to improve her fertility. This could be an offshoot of the long held belief that infertility is the woman’s problem. This belief is not true anymore and it has been proven that half of the time, males experience this problem too. This is why male fertility drugs are already available.

But then, because there have been few researches for male infertility, drugs today will perform only in so far as to establish order to specific hormone imbalance in men.

Depending on the problem that the male is having, the following are the variety of drugs that could possibly be prescribed. Note that while the FDA has not approved these drugs for male infertility yet, a specialist could prescribe it.

§ Gonadotropins
Gonadotropin is usually helpful when the imbalance is the result of failed signals between the testes, pituitary glands and the hypothalamus resulting to disorders in sperm production. Gonadotropins are fertility drugs that are injectable and are normally prescribed when the male has a low sperm density, low sperm motility and unexplained infertility.

§ Antiestrogen Agents
Antiestrogen agents like tamoxiphin and clomiphene are antiestrogen medications that are prescribed when there there is testosterone deficiency. Being deficient in testosterone is due to lack of gonadrotopins. Antiestrogen agents will then increase the release of gonadotropins. The antiestrogen agents tend also to raise testosterone levels and so the use of the medication needs constant monitoring of the testosterone. Aside from this, antiestrogen agents like the clomiphene could have side effects like changes in the libido, weight gain or weight loss, stomach disorders, skin changes and vision problems.

§ Bromocriptine
When there is an excess of prolactin in the male, fertility problems occur. The reason for this is when there is too much prolactin in the system; testosterone levels decrease. Bormocriptine is prescribed to decrease the prolactin level thereby increasing the testosterone and normalizes the sperm production. The possible side effects of Bromocriptine coulod be liver disorders, hallucinations, confusion and could worsen certain mental disorders.

§ Testosterone
Hypogonadism is caused by a lack of testosterone thereby causing male infertility. When there is hypogonadism, synthetic testosterone is prescribed. Synthetic testosterone could be injected, taken orally or could be administered through a transdermal patch. Between oral testosterone pills and testosterone injections, the injectables are preferable whenever it could be applied. Oral pills have the tendency to create abnormalities in the liver, usually elevating the liver functions. The down side though is that testosterone injections do not offer consistency in the hormone level that often result to fluctuations in the mood, energy and the libido.

Testosterone injections could also be inconvenient, as it will require constant visit to the fertility especialist for the injection.

Testosterone transdermal patch and gels are proving to be the most preferred choice. Testosterone patches, although a little more expensive have very little known side effects. It also provides a constant level in the consistency of hormones in the body.

Prolonged medication of fertility drugs doesn’t insure the success of the patient. If the medication that are has been taken and there the woman does not get pregnant in about three months, the drugs that is being dispensed will be changed into another medication if not increase the dosage of the present drug.

Taking the medication though is a good way to jumpstart your sperm production to over 20 million per milliliter which is about enough to raise your chances at conceiving.
