IVF Egg Donor: How to Make a Donor of Yourself

from:

For most infertile couples with extreme problems on infertility the only possible way for them to produce a child is by relying on the benefits of egg donation. Egg donors usually have the sincerest intentions to provide eggs for aspiring couples. However, since egg donation requires time and tons of efforts, the egg donor is compensated accordingly for her help.

Success rates for in vitro fertilization by means of egg donation varies from situation to situation. This is because the result is largely dependent on a number of factors. These include the quality and quantity of the donated eggs, the age of the egg donor, the quality of uterine wall the recipient has, the quantity of embryos transferred and the manner by which the IVF team handles the process.

In general, pregnancy rates using donated eggs are high. Usually, higher than what the data presents against an infertile woman of under age 32's condition.

Because in vitro fertilization is becoming the main choice of all infertile couples world wide, the requirement for egg donations has become rampant during the last years. Since egg donors only qualify under strict and careful examinations and evaluation, the probability that live births occur using donated eggs is considerably high. This is especially true if the results are compared with the capacity of infertile women to produce healthy and numerous egg cells.

Who qualifies as an egg donor?
Typically, the IVF facility will require optimum health from an egg donor. This will entail the absence of smoking and other vices and must be at an age proper for egg donation, most likely 30 years old and below. For some clinics, they even require their egg donors to reside only 30 miles or so from the IVF facility.

Egg donation is used only in complement to the inability of an infertile woman to produce healthy ages. But donated eggs can also become supplements for those whose fertility is caused by severe uterus problems such as those pertaining to the anatomy of the uterine wall.

In vitro egg donation is normally used for women of the following cases:

§ advanced age, (e.g. about 39-40)
§ diminished egg quantity
§ poor ovarian reserve
§ poor response to methods of ovarian stimulation
§ menopause or premature ovarian failure
§ significantly elevated FSH or follicle stimulating hormone level

Steps in IVF egg donation
The initial step in all egg donation treatment is the selection of the IVF egg donor by the participating infertile couple. She will then be examined by the IVF facility for communicable and transmittable diseases to help maximize the health of the child-to-be.

After the primary evaluation, the egg donor party and the infertile couple's party will sign consents and agreements.

The major processes will follow afterwards. As with the usual manner in egg stimulation, the IVF egg donor will be injected with some forms of hormone. While this process occurs, the recipient of the egg donation will be subjected to medications to stimulate the reception of the uterine wall. The male participant however will be asked to release semen to complete the process. The final stage would be the fertilization of the eggs in the laboratory.

The succeeding processes will only require the presence of the infertile couples. However, around six months or less after the procedure, the egg donor will be examined for blood test.

There ends her part. She will then be given compensation according to what has been agreed upon by both parties.
