What Causes Male Infertility?
from:Provided that your sperm-making department in your body has not suffered trauma, disease and infections, living a healthy lifestyle will result to producing very healthy and aggressive sperm cells.
The male reproductive circuitry is an intricate and a very complex work you see. If the body that sustains it is not given the special care and attention that it needs, there is a good chance that it will fail at a time that you needed it most. By that I mean on the production side. While males are very well endowed when it comes to propagating the race, that same endowment could also easily suffer.
Given for example that you have no congenital disease, that you did not suffer from accidents that could harm your plumbing system and that you abide by the rules of healthy living, you have very little to worry about not being prolific when you want it.
However, try hard as you might to be on the productive side if you were born with structural deficiency, are indulging in injurious substances, behavior and situations, your ability to procreate could still suffer. The following are also causes of male infertility:
§ Anabolic steroids – You may want to have a very good image physically but anabolic steroids will shrink your testicles and will cause infertility.
§ Substance abuse – recreational substances like cocaine and marijuana will result to giving you sperm that have abnormal development, low motility and low volume.
§ Smoking – does not only reduce sperm count and produces less active sperm cells, it also increases the rate of miscarriages. Smoking is also reported to harden blood vessels. We all know that the act of reproduction will require the good functioning of all blood vessels that a male has down there. It is the infusion of blood that helps penetration, hence the ability of the sperm to go where it should.
§ Booze – drinking does well to the body. Like everything else though that is abused, chronic alcohol intake will reduce the production of healthy sperm cells. Much like smoking, it also damages the equipment.
§ Take care of your ducts – contracting sexually transmitted diseases could damage the spermatic ducts. In the same manner, transmitting the sexually acquired disease to a partner will infect her making her infertile.
§ You need zinc but not lead. Know your diet. From time to time you will need zinc to boost a healthier sperm production but avoid exposure to lead, boron, benzene, mercury and all heavy metals, pesticides insecticides, radiation and radioactive substance exposure will damage your sperm production capability.
§ Drugs – some medications will not be helpful in making you produce healthy sperm cells. Examples of these drugs are, some antidiarrheal drugs like sufasalazine, anti fungal with ketoconazole, some antibiotic drug groups, other drugs to treat ulcerative colitis, cancer chemotherapeutic treating agents etc. Most drugs though result only into temporary infertility but if you are concerned about your reproductive health at the moment, ask your physician if there are alternatives.
§ Lack of vitamin C, malnutrition, tuberculosis and anemia.
§ Stress
§ Too much heat around the testicle area. Exercise does well but if it is done too much as to make the area around the testicles hot, it will lower sperm production or kill some of the sperm cells in the area. Taking prolonged hot baths, saunas, tight fitting jogging pants and underwear will also damage the sperm cells already in the scrotum area.
